THURSDAY, MAY 7, 2009, TRANSIENTS KILL STELLER SEA LION
Five Star Whale Watching's "Fast Cat" carried our crew and passengers to some Transient Killer Whales (Marine-Mammal_Eating Orcas) near Lime Kiln Lighthouse on San Juan Island. T-40 "Captain Hook" was obvious by his hooked dorsal fin: Note the distinct curl at the top.
After heading West towards Kelp Reef, these Orca began foraging for a male Steller Sea Lion (All 500kg, or 1,200lbs, of it) and finally completed a kill!!
These photos convey some of the myriad of emotions that such an event stirs.
