Resident & Transient Orcas in the morning! Sept 17th, 2012
This morning we traveled to Partridge Bank after receiving a report that Orcas had been spotted at the bottom end of Rosario Strait.
When we arrived on scene the Resident Orcas had traveled south east towards Whidbey Island and we could see that we had all three pods of Resident Orcas. As we watched we saw a number of the Resident Orcas foraging (hunting Salmon) and one male in particular was very determined to catch a Salmon! Watching Orcas hunt is like watching a Lion in Africa, it is always a thrill.
As if seeing all three pods of Resident Orcas was not enough, we then got a call that a large number of Transient Orcas had been spotted near Smith Island weather Station. Resident Orcas & Transient Orcas in the same trip, now that is special!
