Transient Orcas encountered! Sept 21st, 2012
Just before our vessel "Supercat" headed out at 2pm, our other vessel "Fastcat" received a call from the "Pacific Grace" that they had encountered Transient Orcas near Esquimalt Lagoon, just a few minutes out of Victoria!
We headed out on "Fastcat" at 3pm for our final cruise ship trip of the season and encountered the Transient Orcas near Albert Head. When we arrived on scene we our two vessels were the only ones watching the Orcas:)
As the Transient Orcas (i.d. as the T41's) moved towards William Head, they moved into the Kelp Beds and we witnessed them making a kill and then playing in the kelp!
We also made a visit to Race Rocks Ecological Reserve where we encountered Harbor Seals, Steller Sea Lions, California Sea Lions and Northern Elephant Seals.
It was a beautiful day on the water and a great way to finish the 2012 Cruise Ship season!
