First evening of the year with Orcas! May 26th, 2012

This evening we did our first evening trip of the year and we were fortunate enough to encounter the Transient Orcas from earlier in the day:)

It was a beautiful evening as we traveled to Boundary Bay where we encountered the Orcas near Pender Island, part of the Southern Gulf Islands. The Orcas were moving swiftly east towards East Point and we managed to get some nice pictures of them with Mt. Baker in the background.

Whilst we were on scene we did witness at least one kill, probably a Harbour Seal, and maybe one more. We also saw some Harbor Porpoise a little ahead of the Orcas but they seemed to not be interested in them.

On our way home we witnessed a stunning Pacific Coast Sunset, a fitting end to a wonderful day!
