Humpback Whales & Minke Whales! July 24th, 2012
Here are a few images by Ron Bates, MMRG, from today’s encounters with Humpback Whales and Minke Whales. These two Baleen Whales are now frequent visitors to the Salish Sea and it is what makes Victoria one of the best places in the world to go Whale Watching! Not only do we get two types of Orcas, Resident (Fish eaters) and Transient (Marine Mammal Eaters) but we also get three species of Baleen (filter feeders) Whale, Humpback Whales, Minke Whales and Gray Whales.
Apart from the Whales we also showed our guests the abundance of other Marine Life in the area including, Harbor Seals, Harbor Porpoise, Steller Sea Lions, California Sea Lions, Northern Elephant Seals, various diving birds such as Pigeon Guillemots and even Bald Eagles.
It was another fantastic day on the water with Five Star Whale Watching:)
