J-pod returns to the Salish Sea! Aug 6th, 2012

After a few days in the Pacific ocean feeding on Salmon J-pod returned to the Salish Sea today:) It was great to see Southern Resident Orcas in our area again! In the morning we encountered J-pod north of Lime Kiln and the Orcas were moving slowly north. We identified a number of the Resident Orcas including J28 "Polaris", J16 "Slick", J26 "Mike", ,J27 "Blackberry", and the "Cookie Crew".

In the afternoon we caught up with J-pod near Kellett Bluffs and just as we arrived on scene some of the Orcas changed direction and started to travel south. As we were watching we witnessed a number of Spy Hops, Tail Slaps, Tail Lobs and even a nice breach:)
