Wonderful Transient Orca encounter in the morning! Aug 19th, 2012
This morning we decided to head East to avoid the high winds to the west of Victoria, and it proved to be a good decision. Not long after we left the harbour we received reports that a large group of Transient Orcas had been sighted in Haro Strait near Spieden Island:)
When we first arrived on scene the Transient Orcas were on the US side of Haro Strait in a rip tide but swiftly moved across to the Canadian side and seemed to be hunting for either Harbor Seals or Harbor Porpoise that we had seen swimming nearby. We identified the Transient Orcas as the T36A's and T36B's plus a few more Orcas.
