Here are a few images by Ron Bates, MMRG, from today's encounters with 2 playful Humpback Whales off Victoria! The Humpback Whales were a Mother with her Calf and the Calf was being very playful today with lots of pectoral slaps and waves:) Humpback Whales have an 11-12 month gestation period and give birth to their calves during the winter in warm waters such as Hawaii or the Baja Peninsula.
