Humpback Whales sighted off Victoria! Sept 8th, 2009.

Here are pictures by Ron Bates, MMRG, from todays tours.

Our first boat of the day had not been out of the Harbour for more than 30 minutes and was already on scene with a majestic Humpback Whale off Victoria:) Not long after the first Humpback was encountered, yet another one poped into the scene! So 2 Humpback Whales right off Victoria waterfront, what could be better on a calm sunny day:)

Our passengers also stopped off at Race Rocks to see the many Steller & California Sealions at this Marine Protected Area as well as the Harbor Seals that can be found here.

In the afternoon our passengers watched a wonderful scene as one of the Humpback Whales playing with Steller Sealions. They could see the Humpback lifting its enormous tail and pectoral fins out of the water as it rolled around with the Sealions. The Humpback was also Trumpeting in delight as it continued to play, which was a real thrill for our passengers and crew:)

We also got to see some bow riding Dall's Porpoise, which is always an exhilerating experience!

What a wonderful day to be on the water.
