SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2009, Afternoon Trip, L-5 subpod & Humpback Whale

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2009, Afternoon Trip, L-5 subpod & Humpback Whale

After a morning of no whale sightings, you might think that the Crew of Five Star Whale Watching`s `Supercat` might have been less than optimistic on our chances for the Afternoon Trip....`Well, you would be wrong, my friend`.

In this, our 25th year of operation, we know by now that the greater than 90% chance of seeing Killer Whales applies to each and every trip...and today we saw how fickle going out to watch the top predator in the Ocean can be.

Because Orcas cover an average of 100 miles (160 kms) each and every day, they are moving fast enough that just like the proverbial Rabbit in a Magician`s Hat, `Now you see them, now you don`t!`.

This afternoon our "Now you see them" moments included 15+ members of L-pod of Southern Resident (Fish-Eating) Killer Whales and a Humpback Whale.
