Transient Orcas and Humpback Whales! Sept 22nd, 2009.

Today was another amazing day for Five Star Whale Watching with encounters all day with Transient Orcas (Marine Mammal Eaters) and Humpback Whales, all within a few miles of Victoria Harbor:)

Reports came in early this morning that a Humpback Whale had been sighted just off Victoria. This soon turned into 3 Humpback Whales! As if that was not enough we then heard a group of California Transient Orcas, the T185's, had been sighted south of Race Rocks.

In the afternoon we had a wonderful encounter with one of the Humpbacks who was rolling around near a kelp bed. We then heard that another group of Transient Orcas had been found, T20 & T21, near Trial Island.

We also saw hundreds of Steller & California Sealions at Race Rocks MPA.

With sunny skies and calm seas this was another perfect day in the Salish Sea!

We were there on Sept 22 in the morning and it was truly wonderful. The crew was so informative and helpful!

My daughter fulfilled her dream of seeing whales in person and was not disappointed. None of us were. It was an amazingly beautiful day!

Thank you for the fantastic experience we will never forget and thank you for the pictures!!
