SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2009, Morning Trip, 15+ KIller Whales plus a Humpback Whale

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2009, Morning Trip, 15+ Killer Whales plus a Humpback Whale

We often hear mis-information being given out by hotels and other whale watching companies: Namely, they will say "It is better to go out in the afternoon because there is a better chance of seeing whales in the afternoon". THIS IS TOTALLY FALSE.

The chance of seeing Killer Whales is exactly the same in the morning as in the afternoon, about 95% on any given trip. The animals that we seek have neither a nocturnal or diurnal behavioral pattern, meaning that they will do any of the many behaviours (Foraging, Traveling/Transiting, Socializing, Playing, Resting, etc.) at any time of day.

If you try to out-think Nature, chances are you will get it wrong. Go when our departure time best fits your travel plans.

If you need proof that mornings are just as good as afternoons, look over our BLOG postings. There is no pattern.
