Afternoon adventure with J-pod! Aug 30th, 09.
Thankfully by the time we headed out this afternoon the fog had all burned off so it was much easier for us to find J-pod near False Bay. We could see J-pod was foraging for Salmon and many of the pod were traveling close to the shoreline of San Juan Island.
As we continued to observe the pod we saw a number of tail slaps, cartwheels, pectoral waves and a back flip by one of the younger members of J-pod, J39! We also had a lovely encounter with J27 "Blackberry" much to the delight of Marine Naturalist, Kaegan, who was on board with his parents:)
On our way home we stopped off at the Chain Islets to look at the many Harbor Seals hauled out on the rocks. And so ended another day of adventure on the Salish Sea!
