THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, 2009 Morning Trip, J, K & L Pod head North! Probably Back Tomorrow!

Well, we wake up and what do we hear? J-pod vocalizing on the hydrophone array near Lime Kiln Lighthouse.

When we arrive on scene we discover not only J-pod of Resident (Fish-Eating) Killer Whales but the whole Southern Resident Community of 85 Killer Whales of J, K and L pods....All moving North and away from Victoria at a very steady speed. There was an good chance that these animals will move out of our range for the afternoon trip.

We had a fantastic Morning trip, which Five Star Whale Watching's passengers clearly enjoyed, and we are lucky in Victoria that we could then plan on finding Transient (Marine-Mammal-Eating) Killer Whales, Humpbacks or Gray Whales for our afternoon trip.

And there is an excellent chance that tomorrow one, two or all three of these Southern Resident Killer Whales will be back in our range!
