Today we had encounters with very playful Orcas and a Humpback Whale that did an amazing cartwheel! We first encountered the Resident Orcas a near Middle Bank heading towards San Juan Islands. The Orcas were in a playful mood with lots of tail slaps, cartwheels, Spy hops and tail slaps observed as they socialized.
In the afternoon the Orcas had moved to the west side of San Juan Island but were still in a playful mood. We got to see more tail slaps, cartwheels and even a breach!
We also got to see a Humpback Whale that did an amazing Cartwheel this afternoon as well as show its tail flukes several times.
The weather might not have been ideal today but it sure did not seem to bother the Whales we encountered
