Aug 21st to 23rd – Lots of Orcas & Humpbacks!

Resident Orcas near Victoria
SRKW’s
Victoria Whale Watching
Breaching SRKW’s

Over the last 3 days we have had amazing encounters with lots of Orcas & Humpbacks!

Today Aug 21st we had a stunning encounter with SRKW’s (Southern Resident Killer Whales) out west! The Orcas were spread out across the Strait of Juan De Fuca south of Becher Bay and heading east towards Race Rocks. We had a wonderful encounter with members of Jpod and Lpod who seemed in a very playful mood :) We got to see lots of breaching, tail flukes, cartwheels, spy hops and other exciting activity as the two pods socialized! The surface vocalizations we experienced today were breathtaking…. On our way home we stopped at Race Rocks ecological reserve to check out the Seals & Sea Lions plus the Sea Otter, so cute 😉
